Personalising at Harrods Beauty: A Day of Calligraphy at the H Beauty
Here’s a little look behind the scenes, and how I bring on-site calligraphy and personalisation to luxury events.
At the end of August, I had the absolute pleasure of working at Harrods Beauty in the Metrocentre, Gateshead, as part of their H Beauty Beach Club event. The event ran across all H Beauty locations in the UK, and I was lucky enough to be there in the North East, offering live calligraphy and on-site personalisation for customers throughout the day.
Throughout the day, I personalised items from a range of amazing brands stocked in Harrods Beauty, from elegant perfume bottles to beauty bags and even a few leather items. I completely fell in love with the Gisou Hair Oil while I was there!
For this event, I used a mix of paint pens and pointed nib calligraphy, which gave me the freedom to work on lots of different surfaces. Every item came out completely unique, which is exactly what makes this kind of live personalisation so special.
It was such a fun atmosphere - the sounds, smells, and buzz of being in-store are so different from working in my home studio! I loved chatting with customers about what I was doing (and how surprisingly effective paint pens are on so many materials!). There’s nothing quite like seeing someone’s face light up when they watch their name being written beautifully on their new perfume bottle.
I’m based in Newcastle and travel across the North East for events like this - but I’m always open to adventures further afield (Scotland, I’m looking at you!). I absolutely love working with luxury retail brands, pop-ups, and small businesses to create bespoke, memorable experiences for customers.
