A day to slow down, get creative and learn something new in the beautiful surroundings of Hotel du Vin, Newcastle.
11 am - 3.30pm
Hotel Du Vin
City Road, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 2BE
Join Another Loop for a relaxed, full-day modern calligraphy workshop with cream tea at Hotel du Vin in Ouseburn, Newcastle. Always fancied picking up a dip pen, or simply looking for a lovely way to spend a Saturday? This is a chance to spend a few slow hours away from screens, putting pen to paper and learning something new.
No previous calligraphy experience is needed. With over three years of teaching experience, Charlotte from Another Loop will guide you through the basics in a friendly, relaxed setting, helping you build confidence with the pointed nib as you progress from foundational strokes to letters and words.
We’ll start the morning by exploring your calligraphy kit and learning how to use the different tools, before moving on to strokes, letters and words. Then, after a few hours of learning and practising, we’ll pause for a cream tea and a glass of Prosecco before getting creative again in the afternoon.
The afternoon is all about putting your new skills into practice. You’ll have envelopes, cards and gift tags to experiment with, creating finished pieces to take home. Charlotte will also share ideas and examples of how you can use calligraphy to personalise gifts, stationery and special occasions.
Everything you need on the day is included, and you'll go home with your own Another Loop Calligraphy Kit (RRP £40), so you can continue practising long after the workshop ends.
Your ticket includes:
A full day of beginner-friendly modern calligraphy tuition
Your own Another Loop Calligraphy Kit (RRP £40) to take home
All workshop materials, including envelopes, cards and gift tags to practice your new skills on
A delicious cream tea
A glass of Prosecco to enjoy during the break
Plenty of inspiration, one-to-one guidance and hands-on practice!
Ready for a few slow hours of your own?
Please note: We’ll be using Sumi Ink during the workshop, which can be messy! We recommend wearing something you don’t mind getting a little inky.
